What should I expect from my initial evaluation appointment?
During your initial 1.5-hour cash-based physical therapy assessment, you can expect a comprehensive and personalized evaluation, including:
In-Depth Consultation: The session will begin with a detailed discussion about your medical history, current symptoms, and specific goals. This helps the therapist understand your condition and what you hope to achieve through therapy.
Comprehensive Physical Examination: The therapist will perform a thorough physical examination to assess your posture, movement patterns, strength, flexibility, and any areas of pain or dysfunction. This may include specialized tests to identify the root cause of your issues.
Functional Movement Analysis: If relevant, the therapist may conduct a functional movement analysis, such as a gait assessment for runners or sport-specific movement evaluations, to identify any biomechanical inefficiencies or risk factors for injury.
Hands-On Treatment: Based on the initial findings, you may receive hands-on therapy during the session. This could include manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilization, soft tissue work, or stretching to address areas of restriction or pain.
Personalized Treatment Plan: At the end of the assessment, the therapist will discuss their findings with you and outline a personalized treatment plan. This plan will include recommended therapies, exercises, and follow-up sessions to help you achieve your recovery or performance goals.
Q&A and Education: You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and receive education on your condition, the therapy process, and any exercises or lifestyle changes you can implement immediately.
This comprehensive approach ensures that your treatment is tailored to your unique needs and goals, setting the foundation for successful rehabilitation and improved performance.
What does cash-based Physical Therapy mean?
Cash-based Physical Therapy refers to a model where patients pay directly for physical therapy services without involving insurance companies. Here’s what it typically means:
Focus on Quality Care: Therapists can spend more time with each patient, providing thorough, individualized treatment, as they are not constrained by insurance reimbursement rates or requirements.
Greater Flexibility: Patients may have more freedom in choosing the frequency and type of treatments, without restrictions imposed by insurance coverage limits or pre-authorizations.
Insurance Involvement: The clinic does not bill insurance companies for the services provided. This can simplify the process, reducing administrative overhead and allowing for more personalized care. If you prefer to utilize your insurance - we are happy to create a superbill of our services provided for you to submit through your insurance for potential reimbursement, as well.
